Level: 2 pipes flowing out of Laggan Dam.
Weather: 7 °C, raining.
Group: Me, Max, Oatmeal, Aaron, Fin, Emma
Time: 1hr40 plus a protracted climb in and out.
Vibes
A delightful section that provides very fun continuous grade 3 before flattening out as you approach the end. It might not be everyone's cup of tea and would be a very sub-optimal swim location. If the river is running at two pipes, it is ABSOLUTLEY worth running, I personally had a blast!
Features/Experience
Getting on below the dam, you're immediately in continuous grade 3 - read and run. There are a decent number of eddies to catch your breath. This is a bouncy delight.
As the river flattens, you start to approach Inverlair Gorge, which is an ok grade 3/3+ gorge, but its proximity to the falls is spooky. Guard the entry hole with a line. Eddy on the left after the gorge.
Other Notes
The climb in and out are quite a protracted affair and we had to use throwlines to lower the boats down to the river.
