High Force to Low Force

High Force to Low Force
Level: 0.87 | Date: 11/02/2024
Weather 7-8 °C, very cold water temp.

Vibes
Two main features, but significant and technical "bimble" (grade 3 read and run), where we had flips/swims. Pretty darn scrapey on some bimbles. Features were solid grade 4 and offered a push.
Features
- Dog Leg - Easy enough to eddy above with some planning on river right. Three main drops. The first drops you on a toungue sideways to the flow. Some small eddies open before two fun drops. Boats (without a paddler in) didn't always flush down. There's a big eddy for clean-up at the bottom. We had a throwline by the 2nd drop. <\li>
- Low Force - Get out early, before the stone wal that's perpendicular to the flow. Run hard right and place someone, out of a boat, at the bottom to deal with what is a pretty naff eddy on river right. The horseshoe drop before is a bit gross, and the bimble between the wall and the horseshoe are unpleasant with bad eddies at the end. Get out river left after low force.
Other Notes
A pushy river led to tiredness. I wouldn't want to run the river much lower than this. Layer up at the river is quite exposed and cold.
